Greece is not all beaches and mountains, it is also home to many historical sites.

Greece has a lot to offer to travelers who are looking for a unique holiday experience. If you're looking for a place to swim in the blue ocean while admiring views of snow-capped mountains, Greece is an excellent choice.

The main historical tourist attractions of Greece are:

The Acropolis in Athens: the Acropolis is recognized as a famous UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Parthenon is a famous ancient temple, located in this popular touristic destination of Athnes (the goddess of knowledge and battle, Athena, was honored in this historic temple, in addition to Athena being an important figure in Greek mythology). The city is full of ruins of ancient monuments, beautiful architecture and amazing museums like the "Museum of Cycladic Art". The Acropolis is one of Greece's most famous sights.

Crete: Crete is a magical place, full of history, culture and natural beauty, with many cities and beaches to visit. If you want to explore Cretan culture, check out Heraklion. If you want to enjoy some activities like hiking, diving and cycling, Chania can be an amazing spot. If you want a quiet place where you can relax on the beach, the city of Rethymnon might be a good choice for you.

Monasteries of Meteora: Meteora Monasteries are ancient stone structures that have existed for centuries. The first monks arrived in the 14th century and built their dwellings on sandstone pillars to be closer to God. There are six monasteries, two of which have been abandoned since the 19th century.

Ancient Olympia: Ancient Olympia is one of the most important tourtist attractions in Greece. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was first used as an Olympic venue in 776 BC, when it hosted its first games. Ancient Olympia is a place of great significance to the ancient Greeks, who considered it sacred ground. It is home to many temples and shrines and possibly the largest stadium in Ancient Greece. Ancient Olympia was a sanctuary in Greece dating back to the second millennium BC.
